Maruti S-Cross coming early 2015

Maruti showed the S-Cross earlier at the 2014 Auto Expo but it was overshadowed by the launch of the Celerio and the unveiling of the Ciaz concept.

The Suzuki S-Cross is more crossover than pure SUV. The S-Cross does get some interesting bits to spice up its otherwise conservative styling though; these include LED daytime-running lamps, which could feature in the top-spec variant in India. The S-Cross is also expected to get 16-inch alloy wheels, scuff plates and black cladding on its exteriors to give it that rugged SUV-ish look. In international markets, the S-Cross comes with Suzuki’s Allgrip 4x4 system, however, it’s not certain if Suzuki will offer the same for the Indian version.

The interior bits, such as the switchgear and steering wheel, are shared with other Maruti models to help to keep costs down.

The S-Cross is expected to come with a 1.6-litre diesel engine. This unit, like the 1.3-litre version that does duty in other Marutis, will also be sourced from Fiat. It churns out a decent 118bhp of power and 32kgm of torque, and is expected to be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox...

Maruti Suzuki India eyes tapping bigger car segments, Ciaz and S-Cross launching soon

Indian car market is still identified as a hub for hatchbacks, however with new segments being inducted in domestic market, India may no longer remain a automotive market heaped with small cars. 

Currently, auto makers in India have shifted focus to the emerging UV segment that may have witnessed slump last fiscal, but launch of new entrants in this segment will hopefully help achieving good numbers.

The sudden shift in customer sentiment from ‘small to big’, has left MSI pondering the need to metamorphose its image from being a small car king to big car czar. Maruti has now set its eyes on the bigger cars like sedans and UVs. At the 2014 Auto Expo we did get a sneak peek into the company’s two new vehicles, Ciaz and S-Cross that will be launched in India soon.

काले रंग के नए मॉडल को मिलाकर ए-क्लास एंट्री लेवल डीजल कार चार रंगों, लाल, सफेद, ग्रे व काले में उपलब्ध हो गई है। ऐसी चर्चा है कि कंपनी पेट्रोल मॉडल को भी काले रंग में उपलब्ध करा सकती है।

काले रंग में इस कार को लाने के पीछे कंपनी का लक्ष्य युवा वर्ग, खास कर युवा कारोबारी वर्ग को आकर्षित करने का है। यह कॉर्पोरेट जगत का प्रिय रंग माना जाता है।

मर्सिडीज ने हाल में ए-क्लास कार को भारतीय बाजार में लांच किया था। इसकी स्टाइलिंग ने ग्राहकों को आकर्षित करने में सफलता पाई है।

ए-क्लास के पेट्रोल व डीजल वर्जन में 4 सिलेंडर इंजन दिए गए हैं। पेट्रोल वर्जन में 1.6 लीटर इंजन है, जो 123 पीएस पावर व 200 एनएम का टॉर्क देता है। डीजल वर्जन में 2.2 लीटर इंजन है, जो 109 पीएस का पावर और 250 एनएम का टॉर्क देता है।

BMW recalls nearly half a million cars

महंगी कारें बनाने वाली जर्मन कंपनी बीएमडब्ल्यू ने एक तकनीकी खराबी की आशंका की वजह से लगभग पांच लाख कारें वापस मंगवाने का फैसला किया है।

कंपनी के प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि ऐसी आशंका है कि तकरीबन चार लाख 89 हजार कारों के इंजन कंपार्टमेंट में लगे एक स्क्रू से इंजन को नुकसान पहुंच सकता है। हालांकि ऐसे हादसे की संभावना कम है, लेकिन हाल में कुछ और कंपनियों की कारों में हुए हादसों और इस मामले में संबंधित देशों में हुई सरकारी कार्रवाई के बाद कंपनी कोई जोखिम नहीं उठाना चाहती। ये कारें सितंबर 2009 से नवंबर 2011 के बीच तैयार की गई थीं।

चीन और अमेरिका में क्रमशः 2,32,000 और 1,56,000 कारें वापस मंगवाई गई हैं, जबकि कनाडा में 20,000 जर्मनी में 10,000 और जापान में 8,600 कारें वापस मंगवाई गई हैं।

बीएमडब्ल्यू के एक प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि अब तक इस संभावित तकनीकी खराबी के कारण कोई हादसा नहीं हुआ है, लेकिन चालकों से कहा गया है कि यदि चेतावनी वाली बत्ती जलती है तो वे फौरन नजदीकी वर्कशॉप से संपर्क करें।

Toyota is all set to launch its Etios Cross hatchback on the 9h of May, 2014. Derived from the Etios Liva hatchback, the Etios Cross sports aesthetic enhancements to give it a crossover angle with rugged looks. And it has to be said, that the first impressions of the car are impressive as the body cladding added to the car uses good quality plastics and are finished well too, although fitment could have been better as there are some uneven edges at places.

Toyota Etios Cross India Launch On May 9th

Toyota first showcased the Toyota Etios cross at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The upgraded version of the Liva hatchback features adventure sports styling and combines practical ruggedness with everyday usability.

In all honesty, the Etios Cross isn’t the most highly awaited car of the year as such, but it is entering a very risky segment. The original launch date was thought to be May 7th, but now it has been moved up by a small number to May 9th instead.

The car is entering a not so lucrative segment. A major issue with this is the fact that people get confused whether these are still hatch backs or crossovers. Let’s just say they’re somewhere in between with the alterations tilting it more in favour of pseudo SUV’s.

The Etios Cross takes on the likes of the Volkswagen Cross Polo, Fiat Avventura and would have also been competing against Vista D90 had it not tanked as badly as it did. The Etios Cross is 120mm longer, 40mm wider, and 45mm higher than the Liva hatch-back, yet the ground clearance is actually the same...

Audi launches A8 L facelift

The India launch of the Audi A8L facelift took place at the special event in Dubai. The A8 gets minor cosmetic upgrades, most evident in the optional Matrix LED headlights, and the cabin has been tweaked too.

Interestingly, the A8 will now be available in 100 exterior colours, 23 interior colours and 12 options for wood inserts. Seats embossed with personal logos will also be part of the customisation program.

The A8 will be available with two diesel engines - the 3.0 TDI and the 4.2 TDI - and one petrol motor, the 4.0 TFSI. All engines now develop slightly more power and are more efficient as well.

Revised dampers round off the list of changes. As before, the A8 will be imported into India as a completely built unit and hence, is on the pricier side...

LG L90 review: A good mid-segment smartphone

The knock code has for long been used by prisoners to communicate with each other by producing a series of tap sounds. Alphabets, with the exception of K, are visualised in a 5×5 grid, and each letter is represented by two taps. The first tap signifies the row and the second tap tells the column in which the letter is in the grid. Prison authorities couldn’t decipher the code due to the incessant chatter of prisoners using prison walls, bars etc to tap coded messages. When held in isolation this was perhaps the only way that a prisoner could talk to other inmates.

Decades later, Korean electronics giant LG has patented the Knock Code and introduced a striped down version of it in its new entrant to the L Series Collection, the L90. LG in its press release claimed it to be the “most secure pattern unlocking mechanism”. And we put that to the test.

A user can preset a tap sequence on a 2×2 grid and use it to unlock the screensaver. One would presume, the more the number of taps, the more secure the phone is. For all practical purposes we set a 10-tap unlock sequence. ..

The "what will they show?" game is always fun to play, and with WWDC 2014 fast approaching, it's Apple's turn to spin the wheel.

It's sounding increasingly like Cupertino will use its annual dev conference to focus on software (a shocker, we know), and shun showing off any significant new hardware.

Sources of Code/red (over at Re/code) say not to expect the fabled iWatch or a new Apple TV. Tim Cook and the other button-down-and-jeans-wearing execs apparently won't even discuss the new software they've developed for the refreshed set-top.

Instead, as was reported May 1, Apple will supposedly announce OS X 10.10 along with iOS 8. There's a chance the company will reveal the Healthbook app to get its foot in the health and activity tracking door...

Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG India Launch to happen on May 15

Mercedes-Benz India is surely on a roll. The Indian subsidiary of the German car maker is celebrating 2014 as the Year Of Excellence and will be launching most of the AMG products in India. Now, according to the reports, Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG India launch is set to happen in NEw Delhi on May 15th.

After recently launching the GL 63 AMG in India last month (CLICK HERE to read our earlier report on the same), the company will be launching the AMG version of the M class.

Powering the ML 63 AMG is a 5.5 liter biturbo V8 motor which churns out a massive 532 PS of max power and a monstrous 700 Nm of peak torque. The V8 motor is mated to an 7G-Tronic AMG Speedshift transmission. With the AMG Performance pack, the ML63 AMG packs an additional 33 PS and 60 Nm of torque. According to Mercedes’ claims, the SUV dismisses the 0-100 mark in just 4.8 seconds without the AMG Performance pack. When ordered with the AMG Performance pack, 0.1 second is shaved off from the 0-100 kmph run.

Maruti Ciaz completes trial production, SX4 already killed

New Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is all ready to be launched in the country by September 2014, just ahead of the festive season. The first batch of production has already been successfully completed at Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki India. Seen as a replacement to the outgoing SX4 sedan, that has not been doing very well lately, the upcoming Ciaz is undergoing extensive tests at the company plant in Manesar currently.

Shown at 2014 Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is based on Suzuki’s Authentics concept, showcased at 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. Once launched, the Ciaz will be priced a bracket of INR 7.2 lakh to INR 10.5 lakh, and will compete against Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Vento. Maruti Suzuki India has already stopped production of SX4.

Ciaz will sport a 1.3 liter Multijet diesel engine or 1.4 liter K Series petrol engine seen on board the Ertiga. It will come in with a host of features with heavy emphasis on safety which will include ABS with EBD besides others. Features will also include keyless entry, push button start and leather seating while the Ciaz will sit on 16” alloy wheels...

Spied – Maruti Ciaz (Suzuki Alivio) production version fully revealed

These latest spyshots from Chinese website AutoHome reveal the production version of the Maruti Ciaz, which will be called Suzuki Alivio in the Chinese market.

A near production version of the sedan was revealed at the Beijing Motor Show last month. Compared to the concept Ciaz shown at the Auto Expo, the Beijing show car featured production-ready bumpers, wing mirrors, headlights, taillights, door handles and wheels.

The front fascia of the sedan gets a chrome grille and chrome highlights for the foglight enclosures. The headlights feature projector lights and the shape of the cluster looks identical to the concept Ciaz. Towards the rear, the taillight cluster looks strikingly similar to that of the 2014 Honda City. At least for the Chinese market, the Alivio gets dual exhaust pipes located neatly within the rear bumper...

Suzuki Alivio sedan spied in China

 These are the first-ever spy pictures of the production version of the new Suzuki Alivio sedan seen testing in China. The Suzuki Alivio sedan is expected to come to India as the SX4 replacement and could be called the Maruti Ciaz.

As seen from the spy pictures, the Suzuki Alivio carries over most of its concept-looks into the production version such as the wide chrome grille, large multi-element wrap-around headlamps with projector units and other exterior bits as well.

Rear styling is also similar to the concept but the main thing to notice here is that the exhaust tips are incorporated into the bumpers just like on the concept car. This provision is unique for a sedan in this class. However, the Indian version may get a bit toned down styling such as conventional exhaust arrangement with reflectors taking place of the Alivio’s exhausts seen in these pictures.

The Suzuki Alivio’s interiors are expected to be more spacious than the SX4. The cabin is expected to have an upmarket look which will be on par with the likes of the new Honda City and Hyundai Verna. Rear-seat comfort is on the priority list for Maruti...

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly gearing up to launch its much anticipated Ciaz ahead of the festive season this year, claims a new report.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the replacement of the company's underperforming SX4 sedan has hit the web numerous times through spied images and reports. Now a latest report in Financial Express, citing its sources close to the development says that Maruti will launch the Ciaz in the domestic market by September this year. The report also states that the company has started the trial production of Ciaz at its Manesar facility.

The Ciaz, the new sedan offering of Maruti was first seen at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 and is based on the Suzuki Authentics concept car, which was displayed at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. Ever since Maruti Suzuki showcased the Ciaz concept at the 2014 India Auto Expo, Indians have taken to eagerly awaiting the launch of the car. This is because the design of the concept exciting and nothing like we’d come to expect to see from Maruti. The car is sleek, low-slung, and slinky, a far cry from the poor proportions of the model it is replacing- the slow-moving SX4.

A close-to-production version of the car was previewed by the Alivio concept at the recently concluded Beijing Auto Show 2014. It has now emerged that Maruti will launch the sedan in India before festive season kicks off here.

Car makers are known to put off launched until Q4 2014 so as to take advantage of the festive spirit that grips the whole nation around that time. Maruti will look to preempt the slew of launches starting October by launching the new Ciaz in Q3 2014, which is between July and September.

Triumph will bring in Cruisers, Adventure ranges to India

Triumph Motorcycles, the iconic British super sports motorcycle brand, is planning to bring to India its popular Cruisers and Adventure range of bikes to strengthen its product portfolio in the lucrative high-end bikes market in India.

It will also introduce in India its 250 cc global bike which would be debuted in the international markets next financial year. This bike was showcased at the Milano Auto Show last November.

Triumph competes with the international brands such as American Harley-Davidson, Italian Ducati, Japanese Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, and American Indian in the growing top end motorcycle market in Asia’s third biggest economy.

Ford launches Endeavour facelift

Ford has launched the 2014 Endeavour SUV here. The new car gets exterior cosmetic changes and some new styling trims on the inside. The 2014 Ford Endeavour is available in three variants.

On the outside, there's a new front grille, wrap around headlamps and refreshed bumper. The fog lamp bezel is new as well, as are the 16-inch alloy wheels. All variants get a new lockable spare wheel cover. On the inside, Ford has added some new styling trims.
