More details have come out on Hyundai’s upcoming compact sedan Xcent which is due for launch onMarch 12, 2014. Speculations opine that Hyundai could bestow the top-of-the-line trim with alloy-wheels and chrome door handles could also make its way to the high end version of Xcent.
Just like Verna sedan and i20 hatchback, Xcent is likely to get a string of advanced features which are absent in rest of the cars in its segment. Some of the features that can be seen in Xcent include a push-button start, rear ac vents, rear parking camera, one-touch opening boot and various others.
Conceived on Hyundai Grand i10, Xcent is likely to share striking similarities on inside and outside with the popular B segment hatchback. Auto pundits suggest that with minimal changes and an added boot, Xcent could be referred as the sedan version of Grand i10 hatchback. However, details regarding the same will unfold on March 12th, when the car will be launched in India. Of late car makers have been developing the hatchback and sedan siblings sharing same platform, Swift hatchback and Dzire compact sedan is the best example for the same.
Rumours suggest that Hyundai could power Xcent petrol and diesel variants with a1.2 litre Kappa petrol and 1.1 litre three cylinder diesel motor respectively. These are the same engines which currently power Grand i10 petrol and diesel variants. Possibility of a 1.4 litre CRDI powertrain is also on cards. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a five speed manual transmission; speculations are rife that the company could also roll out an automatic transmission...
