Hyundai, the South Korean automaker is keen to consolidate their position as second largest automaker in India. Next generation Hyundai i20, the company’s premium hatchback, gets ready for launch during the next festive season as it was recently spotted on test near Chennai.
2015 i20 is one the 22 cars which Hyundai plans on launching under the ‘Product Momentum 2017′ campaign. Expected to get modifications both inside and out, the Hyundai i20 could be showcased at the upcoming 2014 Paris Motor Show in September and make its India debut during the festive season later this year. Just like the Grand i10, which made was launched in India, even before it’s global launch.

The length of i20 may also exceed 4 meter mark thereby attracting a much higher excise duty. The new model is being developed at the Hyundai R&D facility in Frankfurt and Nürburgring.

2015 Hyundai i20 test mule here (credit to Motor Vikatan) was seen with swept back headlights, a larger front grille, vertical taillights and turn signals built into outer rear view mirrors. Engine updates on board the India specific version of 2015 Hyundai i20 could come in the form of a 1.4-liter diesel and 1.2-liter Kappa2 engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed manual transmission. Auto transmission for the petrol variant will also be on offer.
